A DROP OF
HISTORY

A DROP OF TILLANDER

On this page, our story unfolds across decades, highlighted by defining moments in our history. Here you can meet our beloved founders and learn about our status among the Tillander companies.

WE ARE A LONG STORY

Atelier Torbjörn Tillander’s craftsmanship is now carried by the sixth generation of jewelers. Our history, dating back to 1860, is central to who we are: it grounds our roots, preserves our established expertise, and guides us as we evolve with the world—with the glow of our past woven into everything we create.

Atelier Torbjörn Tillander’s story begins in St. Petersburg in 1860.
Alexander E. Tillander, the great-grandfather of the current CEO Tina Tillander, left Helsinki for St. Petersburg at the tender age of 11 and opened his first goldsmith shop at 23. The shop became successful and supplied goods to the family of Tsar Nicholas II, for instance.

The Revolution forced the Tillander family to relocate their business to their home country, Finland. After a few generations of Tillanders, Torbjörn Tillander became the director of the company’s workshop. He then went on to establish his own atelier. Atelier Torbjörn Tillander carries on the tradition, with Tina & Jenny Tillander at the helm, pairing traditional methods with bold experimentation to create hand-crafted, unique pieces we’re proud of.
